MARION COUNTY — A portion of U.S. 52 has been renamed to honor fallen Indianapolis Metropolitain Police (IMPD) Officer Breann Leath. A ceremony took place with Officer Leath’s family, friends, IMPD personnel and state officials at the Sertoma Club on the east side of Indianapolis.
House Concurrent Resolution 4 was passed earlier this year by the Indiana General Assembly to rename U.S. 52 between Davis Road and German Church Road as the “Officer Breann Leath Memorial Mile.” Officer Leath was killed in the line of duty while responding to a domestic disturbance on April 9, 2020. She served with IMPD for three years and was a veteran of the Indiana National Guard. Officer Leath also worked with the Indiana Department of Corrections.
