• Market Vintage, in collaboration with David Cohn and Neal Warner, will bring Votes + Vibes on Saturday, Sept. 21 from noon-5 p.m. in the Strangebird parking lot on the corner of Audubon and Bonna Ave. The event will run simultaneously with J.A.M (Johnson Ave. Market) in Irvington. There will be a voter registration tent for people to get registered, and check/update their registration, Chicago Beef and Dog food truck will be popped up, Strangebird will be whipping up some yummy cocktails, Kismetic Beer Company will be slinging fresh brews, and some vendors will be popped up.
• FRA Branch 130 is the U.S.S. Indianapolis Memorial Branch and is for veterans of the sea services of the Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard. The branch meets regularly on the first Monday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Greenwood VFW and for breakfast on the second Tuesday at 9 a.m. at Denny’s at I-65 and Main Street. • Rosanna Hardin Hall, known for her lovely paintings, will hold an open house collection of art of Woodruff Place, Saturday, September 14, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Villa dell’Artista, 700 Middle Drive in Woodruff Place. Come prepared to buy!
• TURN Festival is holding its 8th Annual event at the beautiful Paramount Schools of Excellence farm. Get ready for workshops, demos, exhibits, competitions, kids’ activities, live music, and so much more! Whether you’re into local sustainability or just a fun family day out, there’s something for everyone. TURN Festival will be held Saturday, Sept 21 from 12-5 at 3020 Nowland Ave (Paramount Brookside).
• The Irvington Community Council monthly meeting will be held Tuesday, Sept. 17 from 7-8:30 p.m. in the basement of Irvington Presbyterian Church, 55 Johnson Ave. The public is invited to attend.
• Little Flower will also have a community meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church, 1401 N. Bosart. The meeting will be held in the cafeteria, so enter through Door #6.
• Don’t forget that the Benton House Home Tour will be held on Sunday, Sept. 15 from noon-5 p.m. There will be 10 stops on the tour, taking you to lovely residences, as well as a church, a pub, the Kile Oak, and much more! There will be a Classy Car Show at the Benton House, 312 S. Downey Ave. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door (purchase tix at the Benton House). Proceeds go to the maintenance of the historic home.
• Speaking of historic neighborhoods, check out the Lockerbie Square Street Market and Yard Sales on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 8-2 begining at 542 Lockerbie St. The street will be closed to traffic, and you can browse the many vendors lining in front of the beautiful homes. Maps of the yard sales are available at the Riley Museum Home, 528 Lockerbie St.
• The Irvington Historical Society will present a second in a series of presentations on those who called the Irvington area home before 1870. “A Conversation with the Lenape” with Jeremy Johnson, Cultural Director of the Delaware Tribe of Indians will be at the Bona Thompson (5350 University Ave.) Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. A special exhibit is on display in the gallery.
