INDIANAPOLIS — According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the Marion County population has become majority non-white.
In 2020, the census noted over 506,000 white, non-Hispanic people living in the county, and in 2023, the number stood at over 482,000. The Black and black in combination population was almost 306,000, and in 2023, the number rose to almost 313,000. The population of people identifying as Hispanic of any race in 2020 landed at about 129,000, but in 2023, the number had increased to over 134,000. The Asian population also increased from over 45,000 to almost 49,000. Marion County lost about 100 individuals with Native American heritage.
