• Hot weather is here, and the Big Red Box Project needs bottled water donations to help out those who have no access to clean water. Drop off bottles at one of the boxes in front of Coal Yard Coffee (S. Ritter), at the Irvington Methodist Church (north circle), 2015 S. Arlington at Good Shepherd, or at other food boxes in the area.
• The Cats of Irvington project seems to be going very well. Recently, 19 cats were transported to FACE clinic for spay/neuter surgery. The 46219 Initiative helps to pay for the program for Irvington cats through August 31. If you would like to donate to the cause, go to the Web site facelowcostanimalclinic-bloom.kindful.com and enter “46219 Initiative” when prompted for “in memory of.” To get help getting a community cat fixed, call Amelda Butler and Kathleen Egan at 317-406-7102 and leave a message.
• The 4th Annual Arts for Lawrence Juneteenth Jubilee will be held Saturday, June 15 from 4-8 p.m. on the Fort Ben Cultural Campus, 8920 Otis Ave. The event will feature lots of performances, food vendors, visual arts, and kids activities. The event is free.
• IMPD has been making several reckless driving arrests, especially of young people who think it’s cool to take over streets and intersections performing dangerous stunts like spinning and drifting. If you come across this, please report these activities to 9-1-1. They can’t catch’em if they don’t know about’em.
• Franciscan Health is hosting a immunization clinic on Saturday, June 15 from 1-5 p.m. at Altheia Baptist Church, 7816 S. Madison Ave. The clinic is free and open to anyone. Bring your insurance card and photo ID. If you don’t have insurance, it will be noted on the consent form. No appointment is necessary.

• The Justice Advocacy Team of Irvington Presbyterian Church and the Irvington Branch have partnered for a study and community discussion of the book Poverty, By America by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Matthew Desmond. Kristin Shaw will lead a discussion about the concepts in the book on Mondays, June 24, and July 1 from 6-8 p.m. at the library, located at 5625 E. Washington St. Free copies of the book are available at the library while supplies last.
