Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana Gets New Refrigerated Truck

INDIANAPOLIS — Darden Restaurants, the parent company of Olive Garden and other local restaurants, recently helped Feeding America add a fleet of refrigerated trucks for food banks with the greatest need – and one of these trucks serves Indianapolis.
Feeding America estimates that more than 34 million people in the United States face hunger, and food banks are experiencing increased demand driven by grocery price increases and inflation.
Ten Feeding America food banks – including Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana – will be given a 26-foot vehicle, capable of transporting 12,000 pounds of food at a time. Each food bank also received $20,000 to use for food and other needs. This effort is supporting individuals and communities throughout the holiday season and beyond.
