INDIANAPOLIS — The Harrison Center recently renamed the senior curatorial position (held by Kyle Ragsdale) as the Christel DeHaan Curator. Harrison Center officials are also celebrating 20 years of Ragsdale’s presence in the Harrison Center community.
After he attended graduate school, Ragsdale moved to Indianapolis as an emerging artist and painted out of his friend’s garage. A few years later, Executive Director Joanna Taft, invited Ragsdale to have a studio at the Harrison Center and to curate the Harrison Gallery. Ever since, Ragsdale has been an integral part of the Harrison Center and the broader Indianapolis community.
The Harrison Center for the Arts is located at 1505 Delaware and is home to 37 studio artists working in a variety of genres. The historic building, built in 1903, is the site for a variety of exhibitions, music events, and cultural happenings. The first show was in 2002, presented by Kyle Ragsdale.
