INDIANAPOLIS — Local creatives will be on hand selling their works on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at 5295 E. Pleasant Run Parkway S. Dr. Multiple artists will be represented, including garden art by Tom Gerardot, Adele Schluge, Dee Banta, Pat Brown, Judy Zipp, Linda Lake, Greg Bowsher, Lenore Friedly, and many more. Expect a big selection of work in all mediums, including woodworking, textile art, purses, paintings, and holiday decorations.
Cheryl Anne Lorance is one of the artists showing her work at the Gathering. She grew up in Yorktown, Indiana and received two degrees from Ball State University: a BFA and painting and sculpture and an MA in sculpture, with a graduate assistantship.In 1996, she moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico to pursue her art career. While residing in Santa Fe she had a six-year career as a goldsmith, worked at two bronze-art foundries, and was a member of the Santa Fe Etching Club and the Santa Fe Society of Artists. Cheryl has taught workshops in mold-making, bronze casting and patination, and exhibited in juried shows and galleries internationally.
In 2012, Lorance left the high desert and moved to the Historic Irvington neighborhood in Indianapolis. Since returning, she has made a name for herself in ways, including being a recipient of the Stutz Residency program from 2014-15, an artist residency at the T.C. Steele State Historic Site, and sculpture of the Arts for Lawrence Fort Ben Cultural Campus benches. She is known internationally, with a solo show on paper in Australia. She is currently working on a new project for The Riley Trail, creating 10 limestone benches for the city of Greenfield, Indiana, the hometown of James Whitcomb Riley.
She is also widely known for her bronze patina restoration work throughout the area, including the State Capitol building and the Children’s Museum.
