Benton House VIP Event

If you would like to tour the Madge Oberholtzer House and the D.C. Stephenson Home in Irvington, they will be part of the VIP Benton House Tour this Saturday, Sept. 16th from 6-9p.m. The Benton House is celebrating it’s 150th Birthday & 50th Anniversary of the Tour of Homes. This is a fundraiser and tickets are $100 which will include a Tea party at the Benton House with live music and conversation with author of Madge (Charlotte Halsema Ottinger), tour of the Benton House and caretakers apartment, tours of the other two infamous homes with food and drink. VIP Ticket will also be good for the Tour of Homes Sunday, Sept. 17th.  Limited tickets available at thebentonhouse.org/home-tour

• Our Lady of Lourdes Fall Festival will be held  Sept. 21-23. The festival will feature a mechanical bull, rock climbing wall, $5,000 raffle grand prize, texas hold’em poker, silent auction, and a hog roast on Saturday night. In addition to the fun festival activities, there will be a free post-game party on Friday night (Sept. 22) from 9 p.m. – 1 a.m. in the gym. Monte Carlo will be open in the cafeteria, and there will be live bands, Tommy Whiskers and Outlaw Nation. Our Lady of Lourdes is located at East Washington and Downey St. in Irvington.
• Car Free Day will be Friday, Sept. 22, when people are encouraged to go car free or to limit auto travel in favor of walking, public transportation, and biking, or telework. From 7-9 a.m. and 11 a.m.-1 p.m., meet with Central Indiana Regional Transportation Authority officials on Monument Circle for tips and more about reducing car usage. • Conner Prairie will hold a free admission day on Saturday, Sept. 16. You must get tickets in advance online at www.connerprairie.org/event/free-admission-day. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Conner Prairie is located at 13400 Allisonville Rd. in Fishers.
• The annual Art Squared Art Fair/Block Party/Art Parade/Masterpiece in a Day event will be on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. in Fountain Square. Events will be happening in the square near Virginia, Shelby, and Prospect streets. There will be kid’s arts activities, the Masterpiece in a Day competition, and the art parade begins at 1 p.m. Admission is free.

• The Belfry Theatre presents How the Other Half Loves Sept. 22-24 and Sept. 29-Oct. 1 at the Arts for Lawrence Theatre, 8970 Otis Ave. in Lawrence. Tickets are available online at artsforlawrence.org or by calling 317-875-1900.
• Community Heights will be removing the trees from the middle of 10th St. and planting them in neighbor’s yards on Saturday, Sept. 16. They will be staging the effort at 10th and Bolton, and would welcome help beginning at 9:30 a.m. The barricades will remain in place in the median and along the bike paths until November.
