Applause!: Feb. 3-9

• The Harrison Center is offering Storytelling Drawing sessions on Wednesday evenings from 5:30-7:30. Sessions are free; artists can work in any medium  as community members tell their stories. Sign up online at harrisoncenter.org/drawing-sessions. The Harrison Center is located at 1505 N. Delaware.
• Market Vintage is holding a Valentine’s Card making workshop on Wednesday, Feb. 8 from 6-8 p.m. at the shop, 9 S. Johnson. For only $15, you can make mixed media cards for loved ones. They will provide supplies for 4 cards, plus light snacks. You can bring photos, etc. to make the cards even more special. • The Irvington Black Hat Society witches will be offering a special delivery “spell” for a loved one thanks to “Witchygrams” for $21, $20 of which will be donated to local food pantries to help our neighbors. They will deliver only on Saturday, Feb. 11 and Sunday, Feb. 12 between noon-4 p.m. in Irvington. Your loved one will get a long-stemmed rose, a chosen poem, and a visit from a good witch. • Garfield Park Arts Center will be celebrating Black History Month Feb. 3-25 with artwork from local artists. Check it out at the First Friday reception Feb. 3 from 6-9 p.m. The center is located at 2432 Conservatory Dr. on the south east side.
• The annual Art & Soul exhibition of the Indy Arts Council will also open Friday, Feb. 3 at their gallery, and at the Cabaret, 924  N. Pennsylvania beginning at 6 p.m. Performances by Brandon Douthitt, dancer Adrienne Jackson, and more kick off the month’s events. Admission is free, but seats for shows are on a first-come, first-served basis.
• There have been more tragic house fire deaths in January in Indianapolis than all of last year. In some cases, there were no working smoke detectors, or the detectors weren’t working. Take a moment to check the batteries in yours, or if you do not have smoke detectors installed, you can get a free one from the Indianapolis Fire Department by filling out a form online at ifdquartermaster.wufoo.com/forms/q1no3c4z1hfr1xk or dropping by their headquarters, 955 Fort Wayne Ave. downtown.
• Taylor Martin’s Indy Magic will host award-winning magician Caleb Wiles on Friday, Feb. 17 for two shows: 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. at the District Theatre, 627 Massachusetts Ave. There is limited seating, so reserve tickets early! Tickets are $40, and includes a glass of champagne. Please, dress nicely and no one under 15 will be admitted. Visit indydistricttheatre.vbotickets.com for tickets.

Just a reminder: If you need papers to wrap dishes or packing material or for any other purpose besides reading, PLEASE drop by the office for old returned papers! We always have these on hand, and are happy to help you out. We have three green boxes with the old papers already neatly packaged that we replenish regularly! Our office is at 195 N.
