INDIANAPOLIS — The Kurt Vonnegut Museum & Library (KVML) – a nonprofit organization with a mission to champion the legacy of writer Kurt Vonnegut and the principles of free expression and common decency, celebrates Kurt Vonnegut’s 100th birthday with VonnegutFest as part of this year’s “A Century of Stories: Vonnegut@100” series. The public is invited to visit the museum in downtown Indianapolis, attend programs highlighting Kurt’s writing and legacy and donate to support the ongoing work of upholding Vonnegut’s legacy.
This year, VonnegutFest will feature special events from Nov. 3-12, including distinguished speakers and lectures.
The VonneCon on Friday, Nov. 11 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library will offer a chance to bring your Vonnegut collections to share at KVML. No artifact or archive is too big or too small. Plus, enjoy free museum admission, music, refreshments, and best-selling author of The Things They Carried, Tim O’Brien, touring the museum. At 6 p.m. Jason Yeager will perform.
On Saturday, Nov. 12: the Kurt Vonnegut Centennial Gala will be held at 6 p.m. at the Lucas Estate. This will be a limited-seat, ticketed festive birthday bash for Vonnegut along with Jazz vocalist Stacey Kent with special appearances by Vonnegutians including best-selling writer Tim O’Brien. Proceeds benefit KVML’s 1922 Fund for Education.
