IRVINGTON — The 76th Historic Irvington Halloween Festival is months away, but a select panel and the general public have selected the winner of the annual poster contest for this year’s festival. The winner, with a “Stranger Things” inspiration was from Jessica Beauchamp. Second place went to Aidan Campbell, and third place was awarded to Daric Kindle.
The field for this year’s poster contest was large, with 27 posters submitted. Winning posters will be auctioned off to support the festival, which is presented by the Historic Irvington Community Council.
Tickets are on sale for the Halloween Ball, which kicks off the week’s Halloween Festival in Irvington. The “Ghouls Just Wanna Have Fun” Ball will be held Saturday, Oct. 22 at 8 p.m. with an 80s theme, live music, food, beverages, and much more. There will be a costume contest as well. Tickets are by reservation online and sell out fast — visit irvingtonhallooween.com to get them.
The Halloween Festival runs from Oct. 23-29, culminating with the big blow-out street fair on Oct. 29 on E. Washington St. Last year, an estimated 75,000 attended the street fair after a one year hiatus due to the pandemic. In the week leading up to the fair, the community has many free special events, including a Zombie Bike Ride, Spooky Organ Concert, storytelling by the light of the moon, and a beloved window painting contest. The festival is for everyone young and old, and many events are free to the public.
The festival relies on volunteers to keep things running smoothly at the many events that take place throughout the week. Visit irvingtonhalloween.com/volunteer to sign up.
