INDIANAPOLIS — Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch and the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) today launched a crowdfunding campaign to expand and upgrade Indy Reads’ public space.
Indianapolis residents will soon have more space for community literacy if this crowdfunding campaign reaches its goal of raising $50,000 by July 5, 2022. If successful, the project led by Indianapolis-based nonprofit bookstore Indy Reads will receive a matching grant as part of the IHCDA’s CreatINg Places program.
Funds from this campaign will be used to make the bookstore and programming space more accessible, including an ADA-compliant front door and public bathrooms, a stage with a sound system for community events, new community murals and artwork and technology improvements to assist the organization in providing free literacy programs.
The CreatINg Places program began in 2016, projects have raised more than $6.2 million in public funds and an additional $5.2 million in matching IHCDA funds.
