INDIANAPOLIS — Through the Lift Indy initiative, over $1 million has been invested in Community Block Development Grants to improve the Kelly Park in the Old Southside neighborhood.
In 2018, the Old Southside was announced as the City’s second Lift Indy neighborhood, receiving approximately $4 million in funding through the City’s U.S. Housing and Urban Development allocation of HOME & CDBG dollars. In addition to placemaking and park design investments to Kelly Park, the initiative is funding 15 affordable single-family homes and 29 essential home repairs in partnership with INHP, as well as improvements to the Meridian Street Streetscape.
The Old Southside is a one of five designated Lift Indy neighborhoods: Monon16, East 10th Street, Near North, and Martindale Brightwood. DMD will be announcing two additional Lift Indy neighborhoods for the 2022 cycle in November.
