IRVINGTON — At about 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 14 on the corner of Ritter Ave. and East Washington St., a car crashed into pedestrians, killing a seven-year-old student at Julian School #57 and injuring two adults, including the child’s mother. The victims were in the crosswalk and two cars were involved in the crash. Emergency personnel responded quickly to the scene, and drivers stayed and cooperated with police.
Classes at School #57 were cancelled the next day, and a community vigil was held at sunset on Wednesday, Sept. 15 for the child and those who were injured. A memorial was placed at the crash site in front of the school.
