INDIANAPOLIS — The Citizenship Project is a major initiative to help the thousands of immigrants in Indiana who are eligible for U.S. citizenship each year. Through this free civics and history program, the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site offers a unique avenue for addressing the growing demand of naturalization applications. By using art and objects to put American history in context, The Citizenship Project creates a personal and dynamic educational experience beyond pure memorization.
Free classes for Green Card Holders will begin Wednesday, Sept. 8 from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. at the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site, 1230 N. Delaware St. Led by expert museum educators, civics and history classes are available to help green card holders prepare for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services naturalization exam. Through this specially designed six-week program at the Presidential Site, participants learn about pivotal moments in U.S. history by examining objects and documents from our collections.
Due to a generous anonymous gift, there is no charge for participation, but registration is capped at 20 participants.
