INDIANAPOLIS — On Friday, Aug. 13 at Hickory Hall Polo Club in Whitestown, the Indy Public Safety Foundation (IPSF) along with the IMPD Mounted Police Advisory Committee raised over $25,000 through the Polo at Sunset event. The annual fundraiser provided an opportunity for a fun and socially-distanced evening for attendees. All funds raised will help build a new barn for the IMPD Mounted Horse Police unit.
The existing IMPD Mounted Horse Police Unit was established in 1983. Currently, the unit patrols the downtown area and neighborhoods, helps to keep events safe, and spends much of their time engaging with residents and visitors.
IMPD, IPSF, and community stakeholders have come together to develop a plan that would result in investment in the Near West neighborhood and a permanent barn for the Mounted Horse Police Unit officers and their partners. The goal is for the unit to have a centrally-located, functional space that allows them to continue serving neighborhoods across our community. To learn more, visit indypsf.org.
