• Cumberland Blues, Beer, & BBQ will be held Saturday, Aug. 28 from 6-10 p.m. behind Retulled, 11623 E. Washington St. Park at Meijer and walk over to hear King Bee and Stingers and the Paul Nelson Band. Black Acre Brewing will be serving up the brews, and there will be tons of food trucks. Bring your own lawn chairs.
• The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office has launched a Hate Crime Hotline to report bias-motivated crime. The hotline is monitored by trained social workers and victim advocates employed by the office. It is a non-emergency line — immediate threats should be reported to 911. The Hate Crimes Hotline is 317-327-5314.
• Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) will announce their Love Thy Neighborhood Awards on Sunday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. on WISH-TV. Twelve community organizations are finalists, including the Fonseca Theatre Company, Women in Motion, The Ross Foundation, the Latinas Welding Guild, PR Mallory Redevelopment.
• Calvary Baptist Church offers a free clothing closet every first and third Tuesday and Saturday from 1-3 p.m. ID is required and wear a facemask if not vaccinated. Calvary is located at 3255 N. German Church Rd.
• Moving into the second weekend of IndyFringe 2021, and there are tons of great shows to see. Check out Tim Mooney’s Shakespeare’s Histories at Breakneck Pace on Aug. 28 & 29 at the District Theatre, “The Old Man and The Old Moon” from the Carmel High School Theatre on Aug. 28, Sept. 2 or Sept. 5; or Crossroads Dance Indy’s “Classical Collaborations” Aug. 26, Sept. 3 and Sept. 5 at the Basile Theatre at the Athenaeum. • Southeastway Park will host “Camp No Kids” on Saturday, Sept. 18. This is an adult overnight summer camp experience that includes many activities that are included in the kid’s camps, except its for, you know, grown-ups. Archery, hiking, campfire cooking, mountain biking! Available for ages 21 and up only. Beer and wine will be available for purchase (cash only). Cost is $100 each or $175 per couple. • Scecina Memorial High School, 5000 Nowland Ave. in the Little Flower neighborhood, is welcoming back alumni to Homecoming 2021 on Sept. 3. The 1972 football team will be honored, and the 25th anniversary of the Class of 1997 will be celebrated at halftime. Tailgating starts at 5:30 p.m. with free food, drinks and prizes. Admission is free for future Crusaders, 1997 alumni, and the 1972 football players. Gametime is 7 p.m. when the Crusaders take on Roncalli. For more information, visit scecina.org
