• IMPD and Lawrence police departments are investigating a string of rapes on the east side/Lawrence area. The alleged suspect is a black male in his 20s or 30s approximately 5’8”-6’3” with a muscular build. Everyone is encouraged to keep doors locked when you are home, and ask for identification if a utility worker knocks on your door — he gained entry to a home in one incident posing as a utility worker. Anyone with possible information is encouraged to call detectives at 317-327-3330 or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 317-262-TIPS.
• New Palestine was hit with baseball sized hail in the June 18 storms, and Castleton suffered golf ball sized hail. The east side got hit pretty hard with heavy rains and high winds. Be wary of fly-by-night companies knocking on doors saying they’ll fix damage. Work only with reputable local companies and your insurance agent to avoid getting scammed.
• American Health Network recently broke ground on a new clinic at 44th and Allisonville Rd. They will provide comprehensive care to IPS teachers and employees and their families, concentrating on wellness.
• Congratulations on the first graduating class of Purdue Polytechnic High School! Mitch Daniels, President of Purdue University, was the keynote speaker. Forty graduates of the high school will attend Purdue in the fall.
• Every Wednesday through July 21, enjoy free live music at the 10 East Arts Hub, 3137 E. 10th St. Check out the DJ Battle on July 7, or Off the Vine with Norrie the Goat June 30. Shows start at 8, doors open at 7 p.m.
• Every Wednesday through summer, the Growing Places Indy’s Food in Transit program will be held from 2-5 at the Julia Carson Transit Center. This is a convenient place to shop for fresh local produce, especially for bus riders.
• Indy Parks meal service is available Monday-Friday at Garfield Park from 4:00-4:30 p.m., Washington Park from 3:30-4:00, Christian Park from 4-5 p.m., Douglass Park from 3:00-3:30 p.m., and Windsor Village from 5:00-5:30 p.m. The service is open to all children 18 and under, and doesn’t require registration. Second Helpings Grab & Go meals are distributed at mobile service sites Monday-Thursday at E. 38th St. Library from 3:30-4:00 p.m., Brightwood Library from 4:30-5:00 p.m., and Spades Park Library from 2:30-3:00 p.m. Times are subject to change. • To commemorate Elvis Presley’s last show at Market Square Arena, Mad Hatter Shows will be hosting a Dinner Mystery on Saturday, June 26 at 6 p.m. at the Irving Theater. Why there? A part of the stage at the historic theater is from the final show. Really. The mystery dinner allows diners to solve (or be part of) a mystery involving the final show. Tickets must be purchased in advance online at madhattershows.com/event/dinner-mystery-in-indianapolis-in/ and range in price from $45-$70.
