From The Indianapolis Star, Tuesday, June 7, 1921: A system of “personal ratings” has been introduced at Arsenal Technical High School for all graduating seniors. The comprehensive report will not only include scholastic attainments, but also general ability and personal characteristics so parents and businesses seeking information of Tech graduates may know their qualifications. The personal ratings of more than 3,000 Tech students are made up of from reports of the faculty who have been in contact with the student during the school year. The “personal rating” includes physique, cleanliness, neatness, public speaking, written composition, honesty, reliability, thrift, courtesy, judgment, perseverance, open mindedness, cooperation with others, self-control, courage, and self-respect. It gives credit for student activities in athletics, school organizations, and service to the school community. It also embraces “extra school” activities such as Scouting and other social service organizations.
