INDIANAPOLIS — Marion County officials have stated that they will not lift the county-wide mask mandate after the Centers of Disease Control (CDC) announced a rollback in mask wearing on May 13. The CDC recommends individuals who have been fully vaccinated will be allowed to not wear masks outdoors or indoors. Those who have not been fully vaccinated should continue to wear masks. All passengers on planes, trains and buses are required to wear masks on vehicles and at airports and terminals.
As of May 14, approximately 36% of Americans have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. In Indiana, State-wide, only about 31% of Hoosiers are fully vaccinated. After an initial surge in vaccinations in March and April, fewer people have been getting the shot.
Individuals 12 and older can receive the vaccine in Indiana. To schedule a vaccination, visit ourshot.in.gov or call 211 for the next available appointment.
