INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announced closures on Alabama Street between 11th and 12th streets for partial demolition of the I-65 bridge over Alabama Street. Previous lane shifts allow four travel lanes to be maintained in each direction on I-65 and the Pennsylvania/Meridian Street exit to remain open. This work is part of the nearly $320 million project to redesign and reconstruct the I-65/I-70 North Split interchange in the northeast corner of downtown Indianapolis.
Alabama Street will close nightly from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. for bridge demolition work on the I-65 bridge over Alabama Street. Work is expected to be complete on or after Tuesday, March 9, weather dependent. While Alabama Street is closed to traffic between 11th and 12th streets, local northbound and southbound traffic should use Central and Fort Wayne avenues as the detour route around the temporary closures.
Detailed maps with construction-related closure and access information can be found on the North Split website: northsplit.com/maps/.
