INDIANAPOLIS — On February 4, 2021, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Chief Randal Taylor made several new appointments to the IMPD Command Staff. In 2021, IMPD has begun the largest reorganization in recent history. The department is redeploying resources to become more effective in the most violent areas with the changing needs of the city. Chief Taylor has created the Community Affairs Bureau that will focus exclusively on building stronger bridges of trust with residents.
Chief Taylor has implemented the Special Operations Bureau along with maintaining the Emergency Management Bureau which will be led by Commander Sellas. This will allow the Emergency Management Bureau to focus exclusively on helping our community navigate critical emergencies.
New appointments include:
• Major Ida Williams promoted to Commander (Community Engagement Bureau).
• Major Brian Mahone promoted to Commander (Special Operations Bureau).
• Lieutenant Kerry Buckner promoted to Major (Night-watch).
• Lieutenant Charles DeBlaso promoted to Major (Special Operation Bureau)
