INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is now offering the opportunity for potential applicants to virtually participate in the Pre-Academy Readiness program (PAR). Adjustments for COVID have necessitated the temporary pause of the weekly meeting. IMPD now offers the opportunity for applicants to sign up for small group sessions with recruiters throughout the week. Masks will be required for these sessions. Please visit JoinPAR.com to connect with recruiters and learn more about pre-academy readiness, which is a tool for you to become mentally, physically, and academically ready for the IMPD Academy.
The PAR program is a training program designed to assist potential applicants in meeting the State’s Physical Agility Test (PAT) minimum entrance standards. In 2016, the IMPD Recruiting Unit enhanced the PAR program and started hosting weekly workout sessions with applicants at the IMPD Training Bureau. In March 2017 the Run Club was introduced as a byproduct of PAR. While the focus was placed on the running component of the PAT, the other components were later emphasized to address the training needs of applicants. Today, PAR continues to be an excellent and robust recruiting strategy that allows applicants to stay engaged with IMPD recruiters, officers, and command staff during the hiring process.
Application deadline for sworn officers is December 19th at 11:59 p.m. Please visit https://www.indy.gov./activity/what-it-takes-to-join-the-impd to begin the application process.
