Gateway Results

The twin 250 races at the Gateway Speedway last weekend were more of the same for Scott Dixon. He won the first race on Saturday and finished fifth on Sunday. He pretty much has the series 2020 championship wrapped up and Ganassi Racing has experienced one of its most successful seasons. For Dixon his win gave him 50 career IndyCar victories — just two behind Mario Andretti for second place on the all-time list. Second year driver Patricio O’Ward, driving for Arrow McLaren, had two podium finishes with a third and second. He stands third in the point standings. Josef Newgarden picked up his second win of the season on Sunday and is in second place in point standings. Will Power grabbed a third on Sunday but was disappointed at the finish.  The Saturday race featured a first lap wreck that eliminated half of the Andretti Autosports team. On Sunday the race ended under caution after leader Takuma Sato hit the wall with two laps to go, allowing Newgarden to win under the yellow flag. Newgarden said after the race “I’ll take ‘em anyway I can get ‘em.” He is so right!
Andretti Autosports suffered another disastrous weekend. Only Colton Herta has been competitive and consistent and he has yet to win a race. For Alexander Rossi the year has been a nightmare. He has one podium finish. The rest of his season has been mechanical problems, crashes, poor pit work, and bad judgement. Sad year for this talented young driver.
The teams have almost a month off before the next race which will be the Harvest Racing Classic which will be at the IMS road course, a two day event on October 2 and 3.

Colts Training Camp

The Colts ended their training camp and considered it a success. Everyone has been impressed with defensive tackle DeForrest Buckner and are looking for a Pro Bowl season from him. The rookies have impressed, particularly wideout Michael Pittman Jr. Quarterback Philip Rivers is in sync with the offense and the receiving corps. The defense is working together and is much improved. Opening day is just two weeks away and the Horseshoe appears to be ready to go.
