INDIANAPOLIS — In an effort to help support students who may not have access to reliable Internet services, or an appropriate environment to complete school work at home, the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis rolled out its new eLearning Labs on Aug. 24.
The YMCA eLearning Labs are a free and flexible resource to students in grades 6 – 12, by reservation, Monday – Thursday, from 12 – 6:30 p.m. in the following centers: Avondale Meadows YMCA, Baxter YMCA and OrthoIndy Foundation YMCA.
The eLearning Labs come with adult supervision and are scheduled to run until the end of this calendar year, Dec. 17. Expanded hours and additional locations could open if additional funding is secured.
Up to two hours of eLearning Lab time blocks can be reserved by registering at https://apm.activecommunities.com/indymca/Reserve_Options. Fifteen minutes between the time blocks will be reserved for cleaning and sanitizing the area.
Precautions are in place to support the health and well-being of the students, such as health screening questions, social distancing and enhanced cleaning protocols.
Other types of eLearning programs are in development at other locations, including fee-based programs focused on lower grades, full day services and physical activities.
