On October 20, just before the The Black Hats had dance practice for the “Night Out in Sleepy Hollow” event, they presented a check for $4,520.31 to Ascent 121. The money had been raised during the Black Hat Strut (Fashion Show Fundraiser) event October 6th. Ascent 121 is a nonprofit that provides recovery services for central Indiana teen survivors of commercial sexual exploitation. Nancy Lynch (coordinator of the Fashion Show) and Karin Mullins (founder of the Black Hat Society) presented the check to Megan Jessup of Ascent 121.
The Black Hats have raised over $20,000 for local charities since starting in 2016. Be sure to watch for them as they are the finale of the Irvington Halloween Costume Parade Saturday, October 26. And be sure to attend “Night Out in Sleepy Hollow” Thursday night October 24 at the Irving Circle (300 S. Audubon) where they will perform. Winning contest entrants will read their original spooky stories and a ghostly story of the Headless Horseman will be presented. Fun for the whole family!
