INDIANAPOLIS — The Red Line will open for service on Sept. 1 and in addition to frequent service on the 13-mile corridor, IndyGo has made some adjustments to local routes.
Routes 12, 18, 19, 31, 38, and 39 will have updated routing. Routes 17 and 22 are replaced by the Red Line and will no longer be in service. IndyGo will also introduce Bus Stop Balancing, which means local bus stops placed closer than a quarter-mile will be removed to allow buses to provide quick and efficient service.
An extension of the Red Line will service local routes north of the 66th Street station and south of the University Station, this route will be known as Red Line Local Route 90. This route will operate as local routes do and riders will need to enter the front door and pay/validate their fare.
Transit riders will begin to see new signage at bus stops that are changing. Regardless of what sign says, all operators along routes are instructed to stop until changes go into effect on Sept. 1.
To assist with the new routes, IndyGo Transit Ambassadors and IndyGo Staff will be out riding local buses to help answer questions. Riders can also call customer service at 317-635-3344 for questions about the new routes.
Local route adjustments that will go into effect when the Red Line opens can be found on the IndyGo Web site, www.indygo.net. These improved changes will include weekend service enhancements, evening service additions, and every route will operate every day.
