INDIANAPOLIS — As part of the City’s community-focused public safety strategy, the Office of Public Health and Safety (OPHS) launched the second year of the Community-Based Violence Prevention Partnership, a grant program that seeks to invest $300,000 per year into Indianapolis neighborhoods. The public safety strategy also includes the return to community-based beat policing, peacemakers working in high-crime neighborhoods, and the ongoing targeted enforcement of illegally-possessed handguns by IMPD and their state and federal partners.
First launched in 2018, the Community-Based Violence Prevention Partnership awards funding to community organizations, helping to support evidence-based violence reduction programming and wraparound services. Applications will be accepted until May 17, 2019 with awards to be announced early June. To learn more and begin the application process, visit OPHSgrants.indy.gov.
