• Kudos to the hard-working volunteers who made this year’s Benton House Home Tour a great success. Over 200 people attended this year. Another shout-out should go to the local businesses that sponsored the tour, giving of their time and energy to the cause. • Buck Creek Players is seeking usher volunteers to help for each performance of 37 Postcards, running for two weekends, Sept. 28-Oct. 7. Volunteers will receive free admission to watch the show as long as the performance is not sold out. • Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) paramedic Kelly Russ was named the Primary Instructor of the Year at the annual Indiana Emergency Response Conference. The award recognizes the best first response individuals and services throughout the state.
• The South Lawn of the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site will be transformed into a croquet course for a playful two round tournament on Thurs., Oct. 4 from 5:30-7:00 p.m.. Tickets to Croquet Roquet can be purchased at www.eventbrite.com/e/croquet-roquet-tickets-48879716548. They are $10 for a team of two includes Sun King Beers, Garden Party Botanical Hard Sodas, and pizza slices for both team members. Porch Party tickets for those not wishing to play are $5 and include the same drink and food offerings.

• The 5th Annual Hoops and Heroes game will be held on Sat., Oct. 6 at the University of Indianapolis Ruth Lilly Center, 1400 E. Hanna Ave. Indy’s Finest will challenge Indy’s Bravest at 6:00 p.m. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. and there will be lots of fun activities for kids before the game. The event is free and open to the public. Sponsorship money raised goes to support the Julian Center for victims of domestic violence.
• The Pogue’s Run Trail Bike Tour will be held on Sun., Oct. 14 from 10 a.m.-noon, beginning and ending at Circle City Industrial Center (CCIC). This is a 10-mile tour of the partially-completed Pogue’s Run Trail through Spades Park, Brookside Park, and Pogue’s Run Art and Nature Park. Participants will receive lots of goodies from local businesses. The ride is free but limited to the first 150 riders who register at https://pogues-run-bike-tour.eventbrite.com.
