INDIANAPOLIS — After working in Warren Township for 14 years, Deputy Superintendent Dr. Timothy Hanson has been named by the Board of Education as the MSD of Warren Township Superintendent of Schools as of July 1, 2018. Dr. Hanson, a native of Illinois, has earned five degrees in education — two degrees from Ball State University, as well as a degree from University of Cincinnati, Eastern Illinois University and University of Illinois at Chicago. He started his career in Indiana as a teacher at Hamilton Southeastern, then moved to Washington Township. Finally, he came to Warren Township in 2004 and has been in the district ever since. He served as the assistant principal at Stonybrook for the 2004-2005 school year, was the principal at Brookview Elementary for seven years and has been the assistant superintendent/deputy superintendent in Warren Township for the past six years.
Going into the 2018-2019 school year, Dr. Hanson hopes to start a couple of different community outreach initiatives. One is a superintendent-student advisory board to help improve the student involvement within Warren Township. The advisory board will focus on getting feedback from the township’s students and work on making improvements.
“Whatever experience our students have in Warren Township, I want that to be a phenomenal experience.”
The second outreach idea will be scheduling visits to each of the Warren schools to introduce himself to students and families. These visits will be scheduled alongside a school event and will focus on sharing information with the community and asking students and parents for input. The first of these visits will occur in August, 2018.
A goal for Dr. Hanson and the Warren staff for the upcoming school year is creating positive and productive relationships with students, families, and community partners.
“The hard work ahead of us will require our schools and community to work together.”
The first day of students under Dr. Hanson’s leadership is Mon., July 30th.
