INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Foundation, a Central Indiana Community Foundation affiliate, is accepting applications for the Community Crime Prevention Grant Program through 5 p.m. on July 31. The grant program is funded from resources allocated annually by the Indianapolis-Marion County City-County Council, in partnership with Mayor Joe Hogsett, and has been administered by The Indianapolis Foundation since 2013.
This year, the Community Crime Prevention Grant Program will align with the Office of Public Health and Safety’s Community-Based Violence Prevention Partnership that was announced earlier this year by Mayor Hogsett and Chief Bryan Roach. Organizations may seek funding from both grant programs if the funding requests are for unique initiatives that align with the individual grant program’s goals and requirements.
Priority for the 2018 Community Crime Prevention Program is given to organizations and programs that effectively:
• prevent violent crimes among residents
• serve African American males ages 14-24 in high crime areas
• provide intervention or prevention services to adults or youth currently interacting with the criminal justice system
• improve neighborhood safety within Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s patrol districts through community mobilization efforts to reduce or prevent crime in a specific geographical area
• partner with public agencies to help prevent crime
Grants will range from $5,000 to $100,000 and the awards, totaling over $2 million, will be announced in late September. Grant applications must be received by 5 p.m. on July 31 using the online application form at cicf.org. For more specific information about the grant program’s priority areas, set by the Indianapolis-Marion County City-County Council, visit cicf.org.
