Children of Late Officers Receive Scholarships at Car Show

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana students whose law enforcement parents died in the line of duty will receive college scholarships during the 5th annual Church Brothers Collision Repair Car Show to Benefit the Gary Dudley Memorial Scholarship Foundation. The car show takes place Sat., June 16 at the Church Brothers’ Shadeland shop, 751 North Shadeland Ave.
The Foundation honors the memory of Indiana State Police Lt. Gary Dudley, who was killed while participating in a charity bicycle ride to raise funds and awareness for the state chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS) in August 2006. Dudley’s widow, Carolyn, established the Foundation shortly after her husband’s death. To date, over $200,000 has been awarded to deserving students in Indiana.
The Dudley Foundation is the permanent beneficiary of the annual Church Brothers Collision Repair Car Show. All proceeds from the event benefit the Foundation — then Church Brothers Collision Repair matches the money raised by the show dollar-for-dollar. Based on previous shows, 200-250 vehicles are expected to participate.
New this year, the Church Brothers car show also is the official car show of the 2018 Marion County Fair. The first 200 entrants in the show will receive two tickets to the 88th annual Marion County Fair, which runs June 15-24. Car show entrants who elect to go directly from the car show to the Marion County Fairgrounds on June 16 will be parked in a special, secured lot.
Car show gates open at 7 a.m. on June 16 with on-site registration from 7 to 11 a.m. (Pre -registration is available at www.church-brothers.com.) Cost is $20 per vehicle. Food and beverages will be available for purchase on site from Judge’s Tip of the Rib BBQ, Bacon Station and Good’s Candy & Ice Cream. The college scholarships will be presented during the noon hour.
Former Indianapolis Colt and co-host of The Grady & Big Joe Show, 1070 The Fan’s Joe Staysniak, will emcee the event, and Country Music Hall of Fame member and recently retired HANK-FM announcer JD Cannon will appear.
