INDIANAPOLIS — The Funders’ Network for Smart Growth and Livable Communities announced that Indianapolis will receive nearly $150,000 in funding to support community resiliency efforts, as part of the 12th round of Partners for Places grants awarded by the organization. The award will aid in the ongoing Thrive Indianapolis planning and implementation process led by the City’s Office of Sustainability.
Launched at the beginning of 2018, Thrive Indianapolis is convening city and county stakeholders, community partners, and neighborhoods to develop an equitable and socially-just action plan that includes sustainability, climate action, and resilience components. The plan, expected to be completed at the end of 2018, will include:
• A community-wide greenhouse gas emissions inventory.
• A community vulnerability assessment.
• An update to the city’s Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan.
• A study of the city’s solid waste stream.
• Implementation measures that identify both responsible parties and funding sources.
The grant award from Partners for Places supports community engagement efforts, Resilience Ambassadors who will connect and organize Indianapolis neighborhoods around Thrive Indianapolis, and the future implementation of actions identified in the plan.
