INDIANAPOLIS — Paws & Think therapy dogs visited six schools —Charles Fairbanks, Oaklandon, Raymond Brandes, Sunnyside, Crestview, and Mary Castle — in the Indianapolis area as part of ProAct’s Kids in Action Program. During these visits, the therapy dog handler discussed things like: how to approach a dog, how to care for dogs, what makes a responsible pet owner, how to read dog body language, differences between therapy dogs and service dogs, and a discussion on the importance of therapy dogs to the community. The goal of these visits is to educate students on these subjects promoting positive pet owners.
Bringing the students together with the dogs in a professionally-led, goal-oriented program provides each with a positive, rewarding, and life-changing experience.
