• Everyone here at the Weekly View was greatly saddened to hear of the passing of Brandon McDonald on March 7. He was a young, talented graphic artist and Web designer who created our weeklyview.net Web site. His creativity will be greatly missed, and our hearts go out to his family and friends, especially his children Hank and Virginia.
• The Irvington Development Organization is looking for neighbors who want to help IDO and Keep Indianapolis Beautiful plant 40 trees along Washington Street between Butler Ave. and the Pleasant Run bridge on March 25, 9 a.m. to noon. • The monthly Poets Laureate of Lawrence on March 28 from 7-9 p.m. will feature a celebration of 30 years of Branches Magazine. Bring your favorite Branches writings, and a dish to share for the pitch-in. The reading will be at the Theater at the Fort, 8920 Otis Ave. in Lawrence.
• It’s the last weekend for IndyFringe’s Diva Fest, with outstanding female playwrights offering several shows back to back. Check out Heather Massey’s HEDY, Valerie David’s Pink Hulk, Nicole Kearney’s On the Pole, and many more. Tickets are only $15 at the door; see all six shows for only $60. • The Indy Winter Farmers Market + YOGA Series will be held March 18 from 10-11 a.m. at Centerpoint Brewing, 1125 E. Brookside Ave., Ste. B2 next to the market. This is a by donation class ($10 suggested). Bring your own yoga mat; must be 21 or older.
• Don’t forget the “Rock Your Doors Off” fundraiser for the Irvington Historical Society to purchase new doors for the Bonna Thompson Memorial Center on March 18 from 7-11 p.m. at the Irving Theater, 5505 E. Washington St. Beverages will be available for purchase; bring your own food in. Tickets are $10 at the door. Expect great live music, including String Quest classsical guitar rock, Marc and Friends, and lots more.
• March 20 at 6:28 a.m. marks the official beginning of spring. The Vernal Equinox brings longer days and a subtle shift to warmer weather. Now’s the time to think about planning your garage sales!
