INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Animal Care Services (IACS) volunteers, employees and members of the community helped IACS put animals into loving homes and increase the live release rate to 79 percent in 2016, up from 75 percent in 2015.
IACS is focused on creating a better quality of life for the animals and people of Marion County. In order to better serve them, IACS is implementing more convenient hours effective January 7, 2017.
The new adoption hours are as follows:
• Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Thursday: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• Wednesday: Closed
The new intake hours are as follows:
• Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Wednesday: Closed
• Thursday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
In addition to new hours of service, IACS will implement the Stray Cat Diversion program to expand rescue efforts and protect stray cats in Indianapolis, reducing the stray cat population and providing life-saving alternatives for those brought into the shelter. Expanding the foster program and rescue efforts to reduce the population of animals held at the shelter as well as recruiting new volunteers to increase outreach efforts are also priorities for IACS this year.
