INDIANAPOLIS — Community Health Network’s East Campus wins 2nd place in the 6th annual Medline Pink Glove video dance competition. One hundred members of the Community Hospital East staff and community sported Medline’s pink exam gloves and danced to celebrate hope for a cure for breast cancer, as well as honor those who have been affected by the disease.
Determined by public online voting, Community Hospital East received 14, 179 votes which earned 2nd place in the small bed category of the competition; and a $5000 donation from Medline which will benefit Little Red Door Cancer Agency, a central Indiana non-profit that offers screening for early cancer detection and educational programs.
Community Health Network’s own fundraising efforts during the competition raised an additional $2000 for the charity.
“It was a rewarding process for us, not only pulling together as a community to make the video and raise awareness, but also being able to raise $7,000 to aid the recovery of those who have been wronged by this disease,” said Cathy Pickett, nurse manager, oncology, Community Hospital East.
There were nine total winners in this year’s Medline Pink Glove Dance video competition throughout three categories — Large-Bed, Small-Bed and Non-Healthcare. Each winner has received a donation to benefit breast cancer education and prevention initiatives for the charity of their choice.
