Children’s Author Jacqueline Woodson to Present 2016 McFadden Lecture

INDIANAPOLIS — Families and individuals of all ages are invited as acclaimed children’s author Jacqueline Woodson will present The Indianapolis Public Library’s 39th annual McFadden Memorial Lecture on Fri., April 15 at 7 p.m. at Northview Middle School, 8401 Westfield Blvd. Woodson discuss her works and meet attendees during a book signing following the presentation.
Woodson’s autobiographical book of verse for young children, Brown Girl Dreaming, received the 2015 Newbery Honor Award and 2014 National Book Award. She received the Coretta Scott King Award for her 2000 book, Miracle’s Boys, and the Margaret Edwards Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2002. In 2015, Woodson was named “Young People’s Poet Laureate” by the Poetry Foundation for a two-year tenure.
