INDIANAPOLIS — The Warren Branch of The Indianapolis Public Library, 9701 E. 21st St., will be closed on Tues., March 29 and Wed., March 30 for necessary interior construction as part of the first major renovation of the 15,740-square-foot facility since it opened in 1974.
Contractors will construct a temporary safety wall within the branch, as well as relocate the checkout desk, shelving and the collection of materials. Following these installations, the branch will reopen and be able to provide most services to patrons while the renovation continues toward completion in September.
The $1.1 million project will include a relocated entrance nearer the parking lot, new and separate areas for children and teens, reconfigured restrooms and additional access to technology. A new drive-up book drop is planned as well as an expanded circulation area, a marketplace for exhibits and displays, and dedicated study areas.
