• The public is invited to attend a Southside Quality of Life Visioning Summit on Feb. 27 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at St. RochCatholic School, 3603 S. • Boo and Hiss to the vandals who recently hit Irvington cars, causing broken windows, pilfering change out of consoles, and generally creating hardship for people Feb. 21-22. If you know who was responsible for the damage, please turn them into police by calling non-emergency at 327-3811. Thank you to the many good people in the neighborhood who have been looking out for each other.
• Do you have your Gaia Works Masquerade Ball tickets yet? Time is running out to be part of the March 5 soiree that benefits Coburn Place. Visit www.gaiaworksincrp.org or stop by the Magic Candle, 203 S. Audubon. Come as a Viking or a Pirate (or your finest finery) for great music, raffles, and lots of fun.
• Last chance this weekend to check out the beautiful “Love and Marriage” exhibit at the Bona Thompson Memorial Center, 5350 University Dr. Admission is free; donation would be appreciated. Hours are Sat. and Sun. from1-4 p.m. Thank you to Sue Beecher, Paula Schmidt, and everyone involved in putting together this lovely exhibit.
• On March 1 at 10 a.m. at the City-County Building, there will be a dedication of an exhibit honoring Indianapolis Policewomen. The exhibit will remain open to the public through the end of July. The City-County Building is located at 200 E. Washington St.
• The Greenfield Water Utility will perform a flushing program to clean the drinking water beginning March 1. Be on the lookout for hydrant flushing signs placed in the flushing area. Residents in the area might notice a slight drop in water pressure and temporarily discolored water. If you experience discolored water, flush your household system by opening several cold water taps until everything runs clear.
• Save the date: The Indiana Statehood Forever stamp will be issued June 7 at 10 a.m. at the Indiana State Capitol in Indianapolis. The stamp will celebrate the 200th Anniversary of Indiana’s statehood.
• In preparation for the 200th, the Bicentennial organizers are encouraging gardeners to plant blue and gold flowers in tribute to the state flag. Gardeners might also consider planting the state tree, the Tulip Tree, or the state flower, the Peony.
• Arsenal Tech High School will present The Wizard of Oz Feb. 25 & 26 at 7 p.m. and on Sat. Feb. 27 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. The show stars fine young performers in the Anderson Auditorium on the Arsenal Tech campus, 1500 E. Michigan St. Tickets are $8 at the door (students $3).
