From The Indianapolis Star, Saturday, January 29: L. S. Ayres & Co, the William H. Block Co, the New York Store, H. O. Wasson & Co, and the Star Store have agreed to assist in helping clothe 2,000,000 destitute persons in Belgium and northern France with a special 10 per cent discount Monday through Tuesday on all articles of clothing purchased by store patrons for shipment under the auspices of the Commission for Relief in Belgium. The Indiana office of the commission hopes that Hoosiers who believe in its work will help by purchasing some article or articles of clothing. Shoes, stockings, blankets, infants’ garments, and yard-goods are badly needed. The stores will pack the purchases for shipment on a special steamer for the Indiana contributions that is scheduled to sail from New York to Rotterdam on February 10.
