CUMBERLAND — The Town of Cumberland will host the 5th Annual Cumberland Weihnachtsmarkt on Sat., Dec, 5 from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. along the Historic National Road (E. Washington Street) in downtown Cumberland. This event is a celebration of the holidays and the Town’s German heritage.
This year, the theme is an “Old Fashioned Gathering Style” venue with a special emphasis put on the experience. St. Nicolaus house will be revealed on Main Street, complete with Mr. & Mrs. Claus. In addition there will be Letters to Santa, a Children’s Tent with games, and activities along with some surprise features. Silly Safari will bring their live reindeer accompanied by Santa’s Elves in the main event tent from 3-6 p.m. Police will escort Santa’s arrival via fire truck. The tree lighting ceremony will be at 6 p.m. at Wayburn Pocket Park on the south side of E. Washington.
While there, enjoy food trucks, a beer garden, and much more. The Flying Toasters band will be taking the stage at 7 p.m. and playing until 10 p.m. in the entertainment and Beer Garden to end the day’s festivities. All of these events will be centered around the Wayburn Pocket Park, including a vocal Holiday performance on the porch.
