The event will be held on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 3 p.m. at the Hancock County Historical Society’s Chapel in the Park, located at 28 North Apple Street, Greenfield. Please bring along any photos, histories, or family genealogies that you would like to share with others. This is an open discussion format with a moderator, and the sharing of information and ideas is encouraged.  Light refreshments will also be served.
Sugar Creek Township took its name from the principal stream, which enters the township just west of the northeast corner, and flows in a southwesterly direction, crossing its southern boundary just below New Palestine. Originally, the township’s boundaries extended to the Madison County line in the north, which included Buck Creek and Vernon Townships. From 1832 to 1853, the boundaries changed many times as new townships were added and some were taken away.  Its current boundaries are Buck Creek Township in the north; the Hancock/Marion County line in the west; the Hancock/Shelby County line in the south; and Center and Brandywine Townships in the east.
