INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Public Library’s online repository of historic community collections has been expanded to include yearbooks dating to the 1950s from Warren Central High School, as well as those from the 1930s from Ben Davis and North Central high schools. These are the first local township yearbooks that are part of an existing IndyPL collection of yearbooks from all 10 original IPS high schools.
The collection allows viewers to find class photos and information about clubs, faculty, athletic teams and other school-related activities, complete with downloading and advanced searching options.
Begun in 1925 to provide quality education to the Eastside farming community, Warren Central High School relocated to its current site in 1960 to meet the needs of a growing Warren Township. Editions of “The Wigwam” date to 1953 and include photos of such famous alumni as television journalist Jane Pauley, former Mayo Clinic Pediatric Chair Robert M. Jacobson, film and television screenwriter Ryan Murphy, and former NFL quarterback Jeff George.
The yearbook collection can be accessed from the Digital Collections link on the Library’s homepage at www.indypl.org or directly at http://digitallibrary.imcpl.org/.
