INDIANAPOLIS — As Indianapolis’ urban farms harvest their first crops of the season, a cooperative network of four urban farms, IndyGrown, is launching its Web site, opening its farm stands, and inviting the public for a tour.
IndyGrown’s new Web site, IndyGrown.com, showcases a profile for each of the four IndyGrown farms, a map of where to buy farm produce, and shares information about IndyGrown farm events. Each IndyGrown farm invites customers to visit on-farm stands to buy produce directly from urban farmers each week.
The IndyGrown farm stands are:
• Big City Farms, 907 E. Michigan St. Open Saturdays 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. May 9 – October 31
• South Circle Farm, 2052 S. Meridian St. Open Saturdays 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. May 9 – October 31
• CUE Farm at Butler University, Butler West Campus (Bulldog Rd) south from 52nd and Lester St. Open Thursdays, 4-6 p.m. June 4 – October 31 (except July 2)
• Growing Places Indy, 727 N. Oriental St. Open Thursdays, 4-7 p.m. June 18 – September 24
In addition to a weekly opportunity to visit the farms, the IndyGrown cooperative is offering an urban farm tour on Saturday, June 6. The tour gives participants a chance to visit all four farms that make up IndyGrown: Big City Farms, CUE Farm at Butler University, Growing Places Indy, and South Circle Farm. Participants can choose between a bus tour, $30, or a bike tour, $20, and an on-farm dinner after the tour is included with the price of the ticket. Tour registration and tickets are available at IndyGrownTour.eventbrite.com.
