INDIANAPOLIS — The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office has announced a series of free crime prevention seminars for local landlords. The seminars are designed to assist rental property owners and managers keep the properties safe and free of illegal activity.
The first, for apartment communities, will be held June 23 from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. at Indianapolis Fire Station #9, 6270E. 86th St. Another will be held Aug. 19 at Franklin Twp. Civic League, 8822 Southeastern Ave. All other rental property meetings will be held March 25 at the Community Health Pavilion, 7910 E. Washington St.
Each seminar is an eight hour course providing information on applicant screening, rental agreements, warning signs of drug and gang activity, and the Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) method of property and ground maintenance to reduce and prevent crime. The seminars are led by a deputy prosecutor with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Community Prosecution Division and feature presentations by subject experts.
Landlord trainings are free and open to property owners and managers of Marion County residential rental properties, but registration is required. All attendees will receive a training certificate for completion of the training. A registration form and more information are available at www.indy.gov/MCPO/LandlordTraining.
