From The Indianapolis News, Monday, October 19, 1914: Employees of the board of park commissioners began work today on the proposed boulevard along both banks of Pleasant Run from Washington Street to Ritter Avenue. The board expects to get the work along the west bank of the stream from Washington Street to Emerson Avenue finished this year, and the remainder of the work completed next year. The acquisition of land and construction will cost about $70,000 (2013: $1,604,713.79) which is being met by an assessment on the East Park District. The board expects to save considerable money by having much of the work done by its own force.
