Art @ Clowes Largest Work Underway

INDIANAPOLIS — This season’s Artist in Residence, Phil O’Malley, is painting on an enormous canvas right on the stage at Clowes Hall, on the Butler campus. The finished work will be 800 square feet – the size of a small apartment! The work is still underway, and donations are requested to fund the art.
The Art @ Clowes exhibits have grown more popular each year, and last season’s Mosaic Art Wall drew gasps and applause for its dynamic presence in the Main Lobby. What started out as a special Clowes 50th Anniversary display has turned into a “monumental” wall of art for years to come.
The monumental Wall Project is a true collaboration between the performing arts and the visual arts as Clowes provides the canvas, work space and gallery space while Phil lends his artistic genius, time and the paint. Life long learning has always been part of the Clowes mission, and as Phil paints on stage students from the Herron School of Art and Design, Butler University’s Art + Design program and elementary school students from the Butler Lab School and the Butler Community Arts School have had an opportunity to go up onstage to watch and talk with Phil while he creates this impressive piece.
Donations to keep the project moving forward are requested. Clowes has teamed up with power2give.org. Search for Clowes Memorial Hall.
