INDIANAPOLIS — The Indy Blazers girls’ varsity basketball team brought home the State title for the second year in a row, and now the Midwest Regional title as well. Training continues and hopes are high for a first ever National title to follow.
February 22 marked the final day for the Indiana Christian Basketball Alliance state tournaments in Fort Wayne, and the Indy Blazers walked away State victors taking #1 for the state in girls Christian home school basketball. Held in Fort Wayne, the ICBA annually sets the stage for state titles in both boys and girls varsity basketball.
Indy South Sports Academy set the stage the next weekend (Feb 27-March1) for the NCHBC Midwest Regional Tournament. In the Varsity girls division there were 12 teams competing for the same title, and the Indy Blazers walked away with the title. The final game against the Cincinnati Trailblazers ended with a score of 46 to 30 and the Indy Blazers received their first ever Midwest Regional victory.
The Blazers are comprised of home schooled girls from all over central Indiana stretching from Lafayette to Greenwood.
The National tournament will be held in Springfield, Missouri March 10-15. In 2013 the Indy Blazers finished the season ranked #7 in the nation.
