Local Students Go To Automation Contest

INDIANAPOLIS — For the second year, Indiana schools were invited to participate in Phoenix Contact’s automation contest. This year, 18 teams from Indiana joined the Nanoline competition.  The Walker Career Center Nanoline team was able to make it past the first two preliminary elimination rounds with eight other teams from high schools across the state, and were able to compete at Regionals at Purdue University on Feb. 1. At the same time, five remaining teams competed at the Pennsylvanian Regional.
The Walker Career Center project was an Automated Medical Pill Dispenser and was a National Qualifier. Three teams were selected from each regional to compete at the national level on February 15th in Harrisburg Pennsylvanian. From the Indiana regional, the Walker Career Center and two teams from Benton Central were selected to move onto nationals.
Four additional awards for excellence were also given out the year, including one for Marketing, Sales and Presentation to the  Walker Career Center.
